On June 13, 1933, an unidentified flying object reportedly crashed near the town of Magenta in Lombardy, northern Italy — fourteen years before the famous Roswell incident. According to leaked documents and testimonies, Benito Mussolini’s regime allegedly recovered the object and immediately classified the event under utmost secrecy.

The crash was supposedly handled by a covert unit known as Gabinetto RS/33, established under Mussolini’s direct orders. This secretive group, rumored to have been advised by Guglielmo Marconi, was tasked with studying non-conventional aircraft and unexplained phenomena.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, a series of anonymous leaks sent to Italian ufologist Roberto Pinotti included government memos, telegrams, and sketches of the supposed craft. These documents describe a “metallic, torpedo-shaped airship” and suggest the Fascist government was actively covering up the incident and suppressing public knowledge.

Unlike Roswell, the Magenta crash remains largely absent from mainstream UFO discourse — partly due to geopolitical context, language barriers, and decades of silence from Italian officials. However, many researchers now consider it the first modern UFO crash on record.

Whether a hoax, misidentified military craft, or something more extraordinary, the Magenta case continues to intrigue investigators and raises questions about pre-WWII encounters with unexplained aerial technology.
